Baskerville for free.

September 6, 2005 | 10:14 pm

Just screwed up on a typography project and managed to fix it without leaving the house and going back to the freezing lab I just came from. Forgot to do these two certain formations with the Baskerville font and couldn’t use the fonts he’d given me in class ’cause I have a PC and couldn’t use the outlines I’d created earlier ’cause I don’t have Illustrator. So, I searched for and downloaded a free version of Baskerville, decided it looked close enough to the real version, made a couple quick formations in the converted PSD file in Photoshop, and now have something I hope meets his approval at 8 am tomorrow. Speaking of 8 am, I need to go to bed like now ’cause I haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep in awhile …

Oh yeah, and I hate the bookstore and the office of the registrar. No one knows how to refund lab vouchers and it’s annoying

You didn’t mention the name of the font or where you found it. I’m looking for the same thing – a lookalike Baskerville.
Thanks,
Belinda

Belinda, the font’s name is Baskerville-Normal, and can be downloaded here (towards the bottom). I’m sure there are other places as well, but that was the first decent one I found

i’m actually looking for a baskerville italic, preferably old face. It’s for a publication design project. Had no luck so far…anything you could suggest i do?
