Blue July.

January 28, 2007 | 7:17 pm

I’m not a big horoscope person, but add color to the mix and it’s a different story. According to Colorstrology, my birthday color is Aquatic:

Colorstrology

YOU have a great sense of humor and people love to laugh when you are near them. You have a unique way of seeing things. You are innovative and interesting and when confident, are extremely creative and resourceful. Try not to let doubt or conflicting emotions impede your productivity and growth. Your personal color enhances your appealing nature. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Aquatic protects you from debilitating emotions while allowing you to receive the good fortunes that await you.

The first part sounds mostly right, though I don’t think my sense of humor is that amazing or the “creative and resourceful while confident” aspect applies to everything.

Looking around my room, I don’t see many objects that are Aquatic-colored. There’s a fair amount of purple since that’s my favorite color next to black, but the only bluish things are my Nalgene water bottle, a couple art posters (like “If You Would Only Sing Along” by Jonathan Laib), and a winter-themed Puffs tissue box. I also tend to wear darker clothing … though my Christmas gift cards should fix that if I ever decide to tap the power of Pantone. And how exactly does one meditate their color?

Edit: Duh. I guess this site is as Aquatic as you can get. Go me!

Automatic is good.

Well, my horoscope’s right:

You probably won’t feel much like working today, dear Cancer. You may not be all that tired, but you probably will be bored and restless, and unable to focus. On days like this, it’s best to concentrate on routine, mundane chores that you can do automatically. Get out your Walkman and put on your headphones. Take time to relax during a long, leisurely lunch, or perhaps brunch in a restaurant with friends. It’s important to have some fun. Think of it as an exercise in balancing your usually oh so serious self.

Blah …

Oh well … off to morning meeting and more class. Be back later.

Valentine’s in DC.

February 16, 2003 | 2:24 am

Ow, stomach hurts from eating a huge banana split. Blah. Need to stop eating so much. Oh well … there’s always the gym … now if only I can get my car back.

Umm … yeah, tonight I went with Brian and Dan to see Daredevil. I liked the movie, it was cute, even if most of the people died in the end. For dinner we had Arby’s, and I got the Chicken Caeser sandwhich combo thing. Which was also huge, but since I hadn’t eaten since like 1, it wasn’t that bad. Afterwards, since it was only 10, we go and get dessert at the Silver Diner. My dad also decides to call and tell me that he’s driven both of our cars to the Vienna Metro garage so they’d be out of the supposed snow tonight. Right. What snow? And since when does he do something like that without telling me? Geez … well, if it snows like they’re saying it will, I guess it’s okay … but still. What if I’d needed to drive somewhere else tonight? Grr. I think my dad’s following the trend of going insane. Great.

And wtf is wrong with my nose? I think I did something to it this morning … ’cause last night it was fine. Oh well, maybe a little sleep will help. But we all know that’s not happening soon. I just hope I’m not getting sick. Speaking of which, Sarah’s really sick … that sucks on Valentine’s weekend.

Then … speaking of Valentine’s weekend, it’s definitely been the best. No one else has done anything even remotely close to what Brian has … it’s kinda like what Elektra said in the movie tonight … “something this perfect doesn’t usually happen to me, and when it does, I get scared.” Not that I’m scared, but it definitely seems too good to be true sometimes. Man I’m lucky. Anyway, last night, after receiving more roses and a card from Brian (aww), we went out to dinner at Angelo and Maxie’s, this awesome steakhouse in DC — with a five-course meal, lol. Items in italics are what I got:

Appetizers:
Carpaccio with Arugula, Razor thin Parmigiano with olive oil
Stuffed Portabello Mushrooms with Vegetables

Salads:
The Classic “Wedge” with Tomato, Onion & House Dressing
Angelo’s Caesar Salad
Maxie’s House Salad with House Dressing
Soup du Jour

Entrees:
Grilled Filet Mignon
Charbroiled New York Sirloin Steak
Angelo and Maxie’s Ribeye Steak
Grilled Double Cut Rack of Lamb with Mint Jelly

Sides:
Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Brown Onions
Sauteed Spinach
Creamed Spinach
Steamed Asparagus

Desserts:
Warm Chocolate Souffle for Two
Warm Deep Dish Apple Crisp with Ice Cream for Two
Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich for Two
New York Black and White Cheesecake

Sounds yummy, right? It was! I even got red wine, which was cool ’cause they didn’t check for ID. Brian and I made a toast “to us,” so aww. Then we went next door to Platinum after changing valet services — and it was pretty cool. They were playing crappy music so we didn’t dance much, but we each ran into some friends (him, a girl from his communications class and me, Ariel), and Brian somehow got us into the VIP room for free where they were playing techno, so that was nice. We also got drinks and talked for a bit on the Latino floor.

Also, after doing the coat check thing on the same floor when we first got there, I went to the bathroom and when I came back an awesome “Waiting For Tonight” remix was on, so he was like “come here” and we kissed for the whole song. I was like aww  We left around 2:30 when the VIP music started getting crappy, and had to wait forever for the stupid valet to bring the car. While we were waiting, these annoying Asians starting fighting by the hotel where we were standing, so that made the cops come running and kick everyone off the block. So that kinda sucked (as did the cold and the rain and the waiting) — but otherwise everything was great and definitely worth it.

Oh, and I almost forgot — I called my dad last night from Brian’s and since I was pretty tired and the rain was starting to freeze, he let me stay the night! I was like yay  In the morning, we got up around 11, “said hi” (lol), took showers, had breakfast (he made scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bagels … it was good), and then I left so he could interview potential roommates. Unfortunately, the one guy who showed up isn’t quite what he had in mind, so the spot’s still open. Umm … then I went to the gym and spent some time on the bike (10 minutes), elliptical (25 minutes), and weight machines (10 minutes), so that was good. Though I gotta find some headphones for next time (like the ones I stupidly left at school lol) … the music from the free weight room doesn’t carry over to the machines.

Anyway, that’s basically been my day — plus a great Valentine’s. So yay. Also, check out my true ClubFM radio horoscope:

You might find that this may be your most romantic Valentine’s Day ever.

Why is my horoscope always right:

There is much on your mind today, dear Cancer. Over the last three weeks you have analyzed your relationships on a deep and profound level. New people, with attractive new qualities, may be tempting you to make a change. But is this a good time in your life to start up new friendships or love relationships? Are you willing to accept the upheaval such a change would create? These are worthwhile questions to ask yourself.
