I don’t care if it’s not official, this is just cool (besides, I got the evaluation weeks ago … though I guess it wouldn’t hurt to look it over yet again). About time things went right regarding getting out of here
Is it a bad sign to be excited already?

Pat #2.
I finally got around to finishing Monday’s issue of the JMU newspaper, and what catches my eye in the Darts & Pats section? Another Hanson reference!
A “way-to-rock ‘Mmm-bop’” pat to the Jeep blasting Hanson while going through campus.
From a former long haired-brother lover who got a kick out of your musical selection.
This is actually the 2nd one I’ve seen since my arrival here in August ’03
It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m seeing them in 9 days!

Last classes evar.
So I’ve now been to all 3 of my final courses at JMU. The 1st (Signs, Symbols and Social Interaction) is alright … the professor doesn’t take attendance, has this crazy French accent, plays music at the beginning of every class … and if a cell phone rings, she will answer it. I can only hope that my phone behaves and doesn’t ring when it’s set to vibrate during those 50 minutes lol. The 2nd (Survey of Music Industry) seems cool … the professor is a huge Apple fan and seems to be one of those laid-back “music” people who wears mostly black lol. The 3rd (History of Rock) is definitely interesting. The professor moved to Harrisonburg from Los Angeles less than a week ago and thus has barely any knowledge of how things are done at JMU (i.e., students don’t have access to/can’t bring their own scantrons). But besides that, he falls into the same category as the previous professor, and today we learned about measures and bars by sections of the room clapping at different speeds and stuff. It’s also kinda funny … one of my first classes here was in the same 300-seat auditorium, and now I’m ending my education in the same place. Slightly bittersweet, but mostly I’m all for it. The sooner I’m done here, the sooner I can move on to bigger and better things

Differences between men and women.
Bijan read this to us in class one day, and I thought it was hilarious. Now that I’ve found it online, wanted to share:
Differences Between Men and Women
I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart.
For example:
One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed.
Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says, “I don’t feel like it, I just want you to hold me.”
I said, “What? What was that?”
So she says the words that every boyfriend on the planet dreads to hear …
“You’re just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.”
She responded to my puzzled look by saying, “Can’t you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?”
Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.
The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn’t decide which one to take, so I told her we’d just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said, “Lets get a pair for each outfit.”
We went on to the jewelery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you … she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn’t even know how to play tennis.
I think I threw her for a loop when I said, “That’s fine, honey.” She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation, she finally said, “I think this is all dear, let’s go to the cashier.”
I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, “No honey, I don’t feel like it.”
Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled, “What?“
I then said, “Honey! I just want you to hold this stuff for a while. You’re just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.”
And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added,” Why can’t you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?”
Apparently I’m not having sex tonight either …

Summer lovin’ … sorta.
Just got an email from the professor of my summer psychology class (about human intimacy) that starts next week, and I can already tell it’s gonna be an interesting time. He wants us to call him “Uncle Bijan” and goes into great detail on the supposed “source book” we’ll be keeping throughout the class and relating to lectures and readings:
Some of these documentations are very private and sensitive personal information about yourself, your family, your past and present family relationships, your past and present lover(s) that you may wish “NEVER” to share with anyone else. You should always plan to keep this “Source Book” in a safe place and not allow it to be visible to others. When the time is right and your life time partner is selected, you may ONLY share some of its contents (not all of it!!) with your future “lifetime” partner!!
So yeah, if half of his email is about this “source book” and its importance, imagine what it’s gonna be like to actually write it. Never thought I’d be so intrigued about a class that hasn’t even started yet, but I am!

Movin’ out, grades.
So, since I’m sure most of you didn’t see my tweet, MAIC is officially moving on Monday. Today Allison and I packed up and labeled everything we could in our office, and Friday we’ll be doing the same to the essentials (computers, printers, desks, chairs, etc.). While I’m kinda glad to be out of the modular building, it’s also a little sad since so much has happened there since I came to JMU, both related and unrelated to work. They’ll be tearing it down over the summer ’cause its mold problem has been making people sick (luckily it hasn’t affected me much, if at all) and building something permanent its place. I took a couple camera phone pictures of the halfway-packed office, but dunno if I’ll actually upload them or not. I’ll probably make another post, though, with like old and new pictures for comparison.
Anyway, we’re moving to this sketchy-looking place behind the Wal-Mart shopping center (in walking distance of everything there!), but the inside isn’t too bad, and is currently being touched up by workers. I’ll be sharing an office with 3 other people (Allison, Amy, and Lois) which will be different, but also good since we pretty much get along and all like working in the dark
So yeah, expect an update sometime next week about how things turn out.
Also got my final spring grades! Behold:
ANTH 360 (Medical Anthropology): D
GRPH 339 (Web Design): A
MATH 103 (Nature of Mathematics): A
PHYS 121 (Stars, Galaxies, & Cosmology): A-
WRIT 330 (Technology and Writing): B+
Can’t believe I pulled off 3 As (and the B+ would’ve been an A if I hadn’t missed that extra class … grr). Am super glad I passed anthropology since I really thought I wouldn’t make it, so yay! My current GPA is finally back over a 3.0

The end is near.
I’m now completely registered for my last classes ever at JMU! And once I get through this hellish month, it’ll be smooth sailing (knock on wood) ’til graduation. Here’s what’s coming up:
Summer:
KIN 159: Basic Aerobic Kickboxing (5/14 – 6/7; MTWTh 3 – 4:30 pm)
PSYC 275: Psychology of Human Intimacy (6/11 – 7/5; MTWTh 1 – 3:40 pm)
Fall:
SCOM 245: Signs, Symbols and Social Interaction (MWF 12:20 – 1:10 pm)
MUI 221: Survey of Music Industry (TTh 11 am – 12:15 pm)
MUS 204: History of Rock (TTh 3:30 – 4:45 pm)
Kickboxing is only 1 credit and costs $120, but hey, anything that’s not at UREC (which is too crowded during the semester and has weird hours during the summer) is fine by me. And the reviews for the Human Intimacy professor were too amazing to not take the class … an excerpt:
The absolute best professor I have ever had. This is a real self-realization class. I cried the day it ended. Really makes you think about your life. I will never forget this man’s wise words. One of the best people I have ever met, and will ever meet. Absolutely wonderful. Take this class- you will use what you learn in it forever.
The rest of the classes are just random electives that sounded interesting, since I have more art than I need for my degree (and there wasn’t really anything else that interested me: I’m sick of studios, animation is a death sentence, and photography is way too expensive, not to mention the design department hates me). My dad got a kick out of History of Rock, Music Industry will be cool to relate to what Hanson’s going through, and SCOM will be the first Friday class I’ve had in awhile, but that’s okay … variety is definitely good, especially when a part-time job is involved. And, finally, nothing starts before 11 am!
Anyway, I have some research due tonight, an astronomy test tomorrow, and more research, reading, math problems, and a website due Thursday that I haven’t started on, so the next 48 hours will suck (unless I decide to take advantage of the slacker deadline for the website and get a week’s extension for a letter grade lower …). Ugh. I haven’t gone to bed before 2 or 3 am all week, and took naps in between classes today ’cause I felt so dead. I also have about 100 unread items in Google Reader, and I hate when it gets above 50
Blah. Glad I bought that can of Full Throttle yesterday.
