Blah, why is more and more spam getting through Akismet?

Note to self: never try to print a 100+ page document in “best” quality when you only have a couple hours to do it. I’m barely halfway through now, it’s been printing since like 6, and if I stay I’m gonna be here ’til 10 *sigh* Good thing I can sleep in tomorrow. Oh yeah, and I have a lot of stupid ceramics to do by Wednesday, and I don’t feel like getting my hands scraped up on the wheel again

We got about 6 inches of snow in both Fairfax and Harrisonburg last night, and while everything was closed in Fairfax, Harrisonburg went on with life like nothing was wrong. WTF. A 4-day weekend would’ve been nice.

No one’s joined my Kept fanlisting since October — that’s gotta be a sign to close it. Yeah I have fanlistings that aren’t too popular, and I hate closing them down, but why waste space when no one’s interested? Same goes for DSW which was opened weeks ago … how can there be no fans?

Sunday night I was driving back to JMU (after the Superbowl) and from exits 40 to 18 on 66, I only saw and passed one car, which is rare for an 11 pm trip (81 had a normal amount of traffic). I also kept seeing shapes in the moonlit clouds … one was a question mark, and the other was a skull. Kinda cool.

I know I haven’t updated in forever, sue me … I’ve spent the last few days working on my brand spankin’ new Coppermine gallery! Simple PHP Gallery’s site has been deactivated and I was tired of adding folders and descriptions in a text editor, so I said screw it and started over. Getting Coppermine to work has been awesome ’cause I’ve failed more than once in the past ’cause I had no idea what GD or ImageMagick was … but now everything’s peachy All I have left to do is put the pictures in the order they were taken (no small feat since I just had to rename everything ) and try to get the EXIF data for a certain batch that won’t give it to me.

2 more days ’til school starts …

Almost lost my blog there for a minute (and was seriously freaking out), but thanks to fresh backups after deleting my entire database and re-installing WordPress ’cause a table didn’t format correctly (or something ), my site is still alive. A couple minor plugins aren’t compatible and/or fully functional yet and I’m sure there’s more tweaking to be done, but nothing serious … it’s 4 am and I should probably go to bed — the rest of the “big upgrade” will come later.

If it says I’m offline under the “About Me” blurb to your right for an extended period of time, don’t worry — I’ve been getting upwards of 30 spam messages a day from screennames that are simply letters and numbers jumbled together, which means blocking them won’t have any effect. So until I find out why they’ve suddenly appeared and how to stop them, I’ve set my AIM so that only people on my buddy list can IM me. If you aren’t one of them and really need to get in touch, just use the Contact page (and let me know your screenname if you’re so inclined). Thanks!

I’m working on a new holiday layout, so expect that very soon. I spent 4 hours working on metal earlier (and am almost done), but now I’m sick of anything related to school so, as usual, I’m playing online and procrastinating. Wheee. I just broke out the Christmas music that I haven’t heard in 10ish months. Yay … can’t wait to start decorating.

Everyone needs to visit Bembo’s Zoo. These people took 26 animals (each starting with a different letter of the alphabet) and made pictures of them using just their letters My typography professor showed it to us during class, and I was like wow (my favorite is the peacock). Make sure you have Flash installed (mandatory) and sound turned on (optional) for it to work.

I broke out my ear warmers and gloves today — and will probably need my winter coat tonight for Rich’s office hours. It wasn’t so bad during the day, but when I went to get the mail like 30 minutes ago it really felt like winter … like it could start snowing any minute. It even smelled like snow. But since it’s October, all it’s gonna do is be really cold and make everyone miserable ’til holiday break. Good thing I have hot tea, my fleece blanket, and heat (at least when it’s higher than 66 lol) to keep me warm

Today I used my WordPress.com blog for the first “real” time — downloaded the Akismet plugin for my main blog and used my key here to activate it. Yay. I don’t get much spam anyway thanks to Bad Behavior, but that will be turned off for the time being … Akismet, show your stuff.
