Back from the Big Apple.

July 4, 2005 | 5:20 pm

No time to write a detailed post now, but wanted to let anyone who cares (probably no one lol) know that I’m back from Manhattan and am having a pretty good “birthday” so far. Even though it’s not ’til tomorrow, I feel like celebrating most of it today since I’ll be working in 16 hours (blah) and thus will be dead tired come 6 o’clock.

And that’s it so far … more to come in the next few days! My aunt will be here soon for dinner, and then we’re heading over to the high school for fireworks. Happy 4th!

Cool … not cool.

Yahoo Avatars are fun (except you need IE). Check out the avatar version of me:

This is my 1,111th post!

Now for the cabin recap. It was mostly fun. The scenery was beautiful and I hope to go back sometime. I “let loose” and ate more junk food than usual (Coke, Swiss Cake Rolls, Fudge Rounds, Cheetos, french toast sticks, etc.) and drank (but didn’t get drunk). A sweet husky dog we named Cookie came to visit us a couple times a day  We cooked steak, burgers, and hot dogs outside. Then we roasted marshmallows. Jason and Jasmeen’s inMotion speakers for their iPods provided ample music and their PlayStation provided entertainment (board/card games did the rest). Everyone except Brian and I got to go in the hot tub, which kinda sucked … but I guess when guys get drunk (especially Matt) and the girls don’t care, previous plans don’t matter. I realized that driving a stick on a mountain is a challenge, and that Luray Caverns is closer to JMU than I thought. I had the most fun up until last night … then it slowly went downhill. But that’s no one’s fault — my getting comfortable with people (and staying that way) is hard.

Away in Quebec.

January 3, 2004 | 12:00 pm

I’m gonna be away on vacation in Quebec for the next week (’til January 10th), so there won’t be any updates during that time. Talk to everyone when I get back!

Ross’s ankle, another busy day.

July 22, 2003 | 2:05 am

I’m going to bed, but figured I should write something first.

Ross says there’s a 0.02% chance that we won’t go to Palm Beach ’cause of his ankle. Yeah, right. He can frickin’ stay home, but I’m still going. Not like I made him get hurt, but don’t think my dad’s gonna do that, so yay.

Tomorrow’s gonna be frustrating, I think. Gotta bug FFP about the fax, work out orientation info with Sara (hope she wasn’t pissed about tonight), work on WNC, and … go to CVS. And pack! I have … *counts* … 10 days ’til we move, and if Georgetown stuff keeps up its new pace, time is gonna be precious.

Oh well, it’s bedtime, and I’m hoping my throat feels better in the morning. Adios.

Wow, I have my first host — Veronica! Cool. Didn’t think it was that easy … and now that I think about it, I have family! LOL. Or at least the privilege to put up a “hosted” link or something *shrugs* But before anyone goes and gets ideas, keep in mind I won’t host random people. I gotta know (and trust) you in some way first.

Anyway, onto bigger and better things: my birthday, New York, anniversary, 4th of July … busy busy busy. But good good good too! The past month I’ve been so spoiled  I got like 1000 things for graduation, and now it’s that all over again (sorta) for turning 19 (and for 1 year with Brian). Not that I’m complaining, but other people need stuff too … or at least it seems that way? But ah well … I’m happy (except my stomach … blah) and I’m gonna enjoy it while it lasts. I have a feeling this week will be my last free one ’til GUH craziness, so I’m gonna try to squeeze in whatever I can. I know I’ll spend all of tomorrow at the mall and with Brian. And then this weekend I think we’re going clubbing (for the premiere of my fire boots lol), but not sure.

What else was I talking about? Oh yeah, New York. I walked a lot! But now I have a rekindled interest in walking … one reason I’m going to the mall tomorrow, lol. Umm, took the train up Friday afternoon, got there, had dinner, and went to see the fireworks. The show was supposed to be the best ever or something, and from what I know, it was definitely good (except for walking 20 blocks, waiting for 2 hours in the heat for it to start … and then it started late)! There were 4 barges (instead of just 1), and they did a synchronized show to music, complete with both new and improved formations and my favorites: hearts and smiley faces! They also had these funny fireworks that exploded, started to fall, but then were like oh no you don’t, and went back up again! It was cool.

Saturday … was shopping day (at Gap, Macy’s, and Virgin Megastore)! Plus more walking. And then it was De La Guarda. OMG. That show was frickin’ insane, weird, freaky, unexpected, etc. A few days later my grandpa’s explanation of “evolution” made some sense … though anything that combines haunted house music, African vibes, cold water, stage lights, a “ceiling” of tissue paper, confetti, balloons, naked guys swinging from ropes, and all action taking place overhead with a bunch of college kids in a dark, crowded, standing-room only area for 70 minutes … is definitely my idea of wtf? However, it was strangely appealing, and if I could see it a second time, I would — just without my family heh.

Sunday was slightly mellower. Went to Virgin Megastore again, said goodbye to my grandpa, went back home, did anime night with a cookout (and watched Natalie Portman reveal her bad self lol) … and then I collapsed into bed.

And today (technically yesterday) was Brian and I’s one-year anniversary! First of all, it’s awesome that it’s here. I’ve never had such a “real-feeling” first year and I can’t believe it’s gone so well, usually there’s something that goes wrong. But no … it’s like it’s too good to be true  So thanks to everyone and everything that made that happen, especially Brian. We went to dinner in Old Town at this little restaurant called Bilbo Baggins (yes, like the LOTR Bilbo). It was good, and I still have about half my meal — beef stroganoff with veggies and fettuccine — to enjoy for lunch tomorrow. Afterwards we walked around a bit, went down by the river, peeked in some stores, I got ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s, and then, with it being around 11 on a weeknight, headed back to the car and back home.

And now here I sit, aimlessly writing a huge post, almost asleep in the process … and satisfied that I can finally wrap it up and go to bed! So adios, everyone, sleep tight, and leave comments!

Blogger jobs, roses, New York soon.

July 4, 2003 | 1:09 am

Ooh Blogger’s offering jobs … I just can’t apply for any of them. They need to have a frickin’ office here.

My roses (courtesy Brian) have bloomed really big, more than that of previous flowers. So yay, ’cause they’re pretty. Speaking of Brian, I got a birthday card from his parents today, which was sweet. And also one from my grandma yesterday.

Well, tomorrow’s New York (for the 4th, my birthday, and seeing my grandpa). Gotta get up in … *counts* … about 7 hours, so I should be going to bed soon. But before that, here are the past days’ highlights: got a lot of stuff straightened out at GUH (so I better be starting in ~2 weeks), am in the process of learning racquetball, Brian got a new car (it’s cool), my birthday’s technically tomorrow (happy 19th to me), and me and Brian’s one-year anniversary is on Monday. Aww, estoy happy. Gonna be a nice next few days (though it sucks Brian can’t come to New York).

Anyway, guess it’s bedtime, so talk to everyone later. Happy 4th!

Spring breaking in Brooklyn.

April 1, 2003 | 5:06 pm

Okay. Update time (happy Brian?). LOL. First I’ll do today. Had school ’cause spring break was over. Got up at 7:20 and realized that I did have Spanish today and hadn’t done my oral yet, so I got ready really fast and wrote a couple lines of that. Then I had philosophy (we talked about what makes war just) and a free, so I did the rest of my oral during that. Somehow I finished in time for riding, but everyone else in my lesson came late … or didn’t show at all. So I got an “extra workout” ’cause of that. Afterwards I had Spanish (which went fine … it was cool ’cause all we did was give presentations), lunch (had soup, a salad, and a cookie), discrete (easy and full of slackers as usual), and English (grr I have so much homework to do this week … but we got out early, so yay). Then I came back to the dorm and took a shower and did random stuff, and now I’m here. And that’s today so far. Onto NY …

First of all, my dad still doesn’t know about Brian coming (haven’t talked to my grandpa either), though after he sees my cell bill I’m not so sure, lol. And since March is over, I’m guessing he’ll be finding out soon. Crap. But anyway, Friday was cool. I’d be here forever typing every single detail so I’ll just give the highlights. Train ride was fine, walked the 10 blocks to the hotel (Penn Station to Millenium Broadway) in the drizzling rain, got settled in there, had appetizers at the hotel’s lounge (olives, bleu cheese, and crackers), finally met Shaune and Will outside around 9, went on an awesome carriage ride through Central Park, had dinner at this somewhat fancy Italian restaurant (courtesy the carriage driver guy … I had spaghetti with parmesean cheese and bacon, and tiramisu for dessert), then we all went back to the hotel and talked for awhile, and soon were starting to fall asleep so we called it a night.

Saturday morning, Brian and I slept in ’til about 1, had breakfast at the Red Flame diner (I got a chicken wrap), took the subway to the Natural History Museum (even though once I saw it I remembered going there about a year ago with my grandpa), and we were gonna go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art too, but instead went back to the hotel and slept … ’cause Shaune’s party was later … and man I was gonna need the rest  For dinner we went to a little Mexican place across the street from the hotel called Viva Pancho or something (I got yummy chicken fajitas and sangria), went back to the hotel to get cards and figure out the subway to St. John’s, and then we were on our way.

The subway was fine, but when we got to Kew Gardens and called Shaune, she informed us (after like 20 minutes of waiting) that we’d have to take the bus there since everyone was already drunk. So after a little searching we found the bus, and in 10 minutes were at St. John’s. 10 minutes later, after calling Shaune like 20 times (by this time Brian’s really pissed), Shaune finally walks out to meet us. She leads us to her dorm, drunkingly apologizing for being so spacey (I so bet she meant it, lol), and soon we’re in the middle of her celebration.

We meet a few random people (including Dan, Frank the Tank, and an Asian Claire), and then I start drinking ’cause I wanted to forget the past hour or so of Shaune and Brian’s clashing personalities. Unfortunately, most of the good stuff is gone, so I have a shot of some green melon stuff, a couple shots of Goldschlager, half a glass of 151 and Coke, and half a glass of 99 Apples. After that I was definitely drunk, and everything was good for awhile. I was just talking to people and having fun … gave Shaune her birthday card, though I wonder if she even remembers where she put it, lol … then the party moved to Shaune’s room for the sake of not being caught … I think I laid down on some bed, and that’s all I remember except vaguely throwing up (and passing out?), people helping me with that, and somehow making it back to the hotel in one piece. Brian says we got back around 3, and to sleep around 4:30 after he made sure I wasn’t gonna die. I still don’t know why he keeps putting up with me, especially after the party … but it’s awesome that he does … I guess as long as I don’t really screw anything up anymore, we’ll be fine?

Sunday morning … I felt like crap lol, especially since we had to wake up at 9 to be at the circus (at Madison Square Garden) by 11. Brian had the first shower, and I tried to sleep during that, but couldn’t, so was kinda annoyed at that. But somehow I get up and get myself ready in like 20 minutes, and we take a cab to the Garden after checking out and putting our luggage away. I feel pretty sick, but luckily I don’t throw up again … I just kinda sit there feeling blah. But the circus was awesome. The horses were really pretty, I loved how all the animals could bow, the trapeze guys were good (Brian wants to be one of them), the motorcycles in the cage were cool, and they lit the human cannonball guy on fire at the end (my favorite part). The orchestra was also good, according to Brian.

Afterwards we have lunch at a pizza place (even though I was craving soup, my stomach was feeling slightly better, so it was all good), check out the 7-story Macy’s (in the frickin’ drizzling rain again) and Toys ‘R Us (white tiger for $45 anyone?) … and then have dinner at the Pig ‘N Whistle restaurant (I got chicken pot pie, the closest thing to chicken noodle soup, lol). After that we go back to the hotel, get our stuff, wait 10 minutes in the frickin’ cold for a cab with this girl also trying to catch a train, finally get to Penn Station, hang out there for awhile (where I finally get my soup fix) … and before we know it we’re on our way back to DC. The ride was fine, I tried to sleep but couldn’t, so instead I listened to the new Linkin Park album again, made a code for Brian to crack, called Shaune to tell her I was okay and my dad to work out meeting plans, read a little for English (which I somehow finished last night … all 120 pages … go me) … then I met my dad at Union Station.

Once home, I unpacked and worked on my fanlisting since I still wasn’t really tired, and got to sleep around 2. It was great, I slept like 11 hours straight (something I rarely do), but I needed that for my read-a-thon last night. Wow, that was a long blog — I think that brings everything up to date *nods* Anyway, adios ’til later people!
